Overview
Role: UX Researcher, UX Designer
Duration: 10 Weeks
Tools: Axure, Pen and Paper, Google Docs/Slides
Methods: Sketching, personas, prototyping, and evaluation
Process
Product Ideation
As the team began to put our ideas into action, we created a moodboard, styleguide and personas. The purpose of this digital narrative was to collect our thoughts, ideas, styles, and goals of our intended users in one place as source of inspiration without losing site of the bigger picture.

User Testing
We conducted a usability test with 3 users representing 2 target user groups: parents and drivers
Parent task: booking a ride for their child
Driver task: finding a rider
Our method of testing consisted of interviewing and testing tasks conducted on a mobile phone. We had two different group members test subjects that met our target participant requirements. The goal was to develop and test a mobile prototype since a majority of use would occur on mobile devices. Target User We had two target participants for this application: Parent and Driver. On the parent side, we screened for users to be parents, used smartphones and had at least one child. On the driver side, we screened for users to be people with driving experience.
Findings:
Overall, users liked our product concept and sense of security offered
Challenges for users were related to navigation, uncertainty of what to click on next
Recommendations:
For the “Call” button, provide hints as to who the button will call (Driver or Parent)
Make the prototype more Hi-Fi so users understand some certain design intention
Include a checklist for the driver before trip begins
Hamburger-style menu functionality
Considerations of car seat sizes
Show details of the car and driver before the trip begins

Project Impact
The advent of ridesharing filled a vast need by allowing for cheaper, quicker transportation options. While these services are great for the masses they leave a large gap to be filled in the transportation of children. Services like Uber and Lyft are not used for the transport of children due to security concerns. Yet today’s modern parents are overwhelmed not only by their day jobs, but also keeping up with their children’s lives and the many trips to/from school, sporting events, after school activities and much more.
RideSafe fills this gap, and provides a safe and secure method of transport specifically tailored to children, while catering to the parents and guardians responsible getting them from point A to B. RideSafe’s unique offering combines highly qualified, thoroughly vetted chauffeurs with the latest technological advancements to provide a security focused transportation for your children.
